Shell I tell you what I suddenly see A little girl grew up in front of me It's like I barely even turned around There you stood in this beautiful gown Yesterday you had just turned six Wrestling boys and throwing sticks This has really happened, can you see You've grown up quickly and quite prettyI didn't take enough pictures or keep a baby book Now I see you and my feelings have been shook Look at yourself and forgive me while I have a cry I didn't even get to say to that little girl goodbye

What a sweet poem, and such a beautiful young lady in a beautiful dress.

Good evening and thank you. She’s a bit older now but just as beautiful. 🙂

Oh my, Eileen! I love this. The photo is so beautiful, as is your granddaughter, and you’ve captured the the emotion of that moment so perfectly in poetry. <33
(Side note: in the WordPress Reader view the formatting of your poems is completely skewed—I believe this is a typical problem with the "verse" block—but if I click through the title to the front-end view of your blog, they're all good. Glad to have finally figured that out. :))
Love your blog!
