It's cold outside, the wind is blowing Freeze in the air, soon it will be snowing Nothing can be better on this whole earth Just watching my cats sleeping by the hearth Many a cat would be filled with delight To be in a warm cozy home for the night But for them it's just a dream far out of sight Only abandonment is to be their plight All I can offer is this plea to all of you Can you adopt a cat, or maybe even two If you have a cat, can you neuter or spayed By doing this less cats have to be saved I feel a shiver as I hear the wind howl Oh so many cats tonight out on the prowl I am filled with thankfulness gaiety and mirth As I gaze at my at my sleeping cats by the hearth Author Eileen Clark 2013

That’s a great message, Eileen. I’m reminded of the phrase “Saving one cat won’t change the world, but for that one cat, the world will be forever changed.”

I love it, that’s a great saying that I had not heard before or just don’t remember it, thanks.

Beautiful poem and image, Eileen. I hate to think a cat would be left outside in harsh weather. Your poem sends an important message.

Lovely picture and poem Eileen. Nearly all of our cats have been strays or feral cats over more than 30 years ago. Just over a week ago we thought our beautiful 16-year-old moggie Rambo was headed for that rainbow bridge after we took him to the vets. He is on pills for his hyperthyroidism and has got some arthritis. He was so lethargic and not able to get out his own way. Our vet said he was very dehydrated and running a temperature. One of his kidneys was not functioning very well so the prognosis was not good. We decided to leave him at the vets overnight where he was kept on a drip and review the situation the next day. To our vet’s amazement Rambo had bounced back and she was happy to send him home. We are so happy to report that he is now drinking and eating much more – even trying to steal the food off our plates and interacting with us. We know the day will come but we are so happy to have this extra time with him while he enjoys a good quality of life. Lynn

Hello Lynn, I’m saddened by your comment but pleased of course with the joyful outcome. My Little Girl is old and we’ve had a couple of close calls with her health. Just last month I did a post on her about an infection she got in one of her eyes. This incident did two things for me, I’m paying more attention to her now and I’m preparing myself for the day when I lose her forever. Thank you and my best regards. =^..^=

Our pets are a gift and part of our family and memories. My husband and I were teary last week. I think I felt sadness I was not able to say goodbye probably. I agree about the paying more attention to our pets. Hope your Little Girl brings you much more joy yet! Lynn
